travel_vic · I met Eddie Arcaro there in the early 70's. I collected and traded tote tickets from all over the world so all of us (two couples) picked up as many as we could and had them spread out on our table (thousands of dollars in used totes discarded as uncashable). It was a great idea having an 870 yd. turf qh race last nite at EVD. Was a great race until the one horse broke down in the stretch. It was disturbing to me to see that.

travel_vic · Little Evangeline Downs tried a trick race last night by having the usually straight running DIRT quarter horses try to negotiate a foreign surface, the inner grass course. It smacked of disaster from the start as few could corner the tighter inner course turns and on that new surface, the field was as atypical a race as I have ever seen these sprinters: all over the place. Coming down the lane two vied for prominence until Toast to la la snapped its right foreleg and crashed to the turf after somersaulting twice. While its nice to try new things, it is better to have horses prepare for it first. · 4059 days ago
