Super Screener Winning Criteria - Classic

  • Rule #1 - NY State of Mind - When the BC is not at Santa Anita, 9 of the past 10 winners have had at least one of their final two preps in New York.
  • Rule #3 - Coolmore - There have been 10 Aidan O'Brien starters over the past 11 years - the average finish position has been 7th, with 8 of 10 starters going off at 10-1 or less.
  • Rule #4 - Always Be Closing - Six of the past 8 winners of the Classic were closers.  Since 1999, 78% of the longshots (20-1 or higher) who finished in the Super were closers.

I cant wait for the Derby! Im truly enjoying watching and following this sport. Stupid question from the new guy here so go easy on me. At these large races (ie Kentucky Derby, Preakness, Belmont, BC) is it EVER possible to visit the horses? Seeing as the BC is on the west coast this year, we're there! But, what i wouldnt give to visit Shackleford, Hanson, and Creative cause in person!!
This was a SLOW race. Even slower than the Jockey Club Gold cup on the mud!

  • DeadHeat · People, note that the time may not be just because of the horses but because of the track itself. HDG and GOD had already shown that they were capable of running 10f much quicker in the DE Cap and HGC, respectively. MMA, a very fast filly went 8.5f in 1.46. Hansen and UR, both fast colts ran that distance in 1.44. Many mile races over dirt from Thurs to Sat were 1.36 plus. Only CB had anything below that. The so called Marathoners, who were led by PP, who set quite the pace for that distance, had a 10f split of 2.05. That was not because of a slow set up, nowhere close. PP set 23, and 48 for the half. No way should they have hit that marker in 2.05 with that pace. Does anyone remember Saratoga this year? How about Whitney day? It was a dead track. Tizway went 9f in 1.52, yet we know he is not slow because the race before he ran 8f in 1.32. The track, while safe, is very demanding and probably like Saratoga needs to be resurfaced. However, the fact that the track was extremely sticky also did not help. If you were on the rail...I was, you could see just how sticky it was. · 4099 days ago
  • footlick · Drosselmeyer certainly is not the fastest horse on the planet, but the track, as DeadHeat said was much to blame. Churchill's dirt track was testing. · 4099 days ago
Hey everyone that attended the Classic this year, I just wanted to say my father and I had a blast and look forward to another meet up event. Its great to be apart of the horseracingnation family! lets grow this thing
You guys remember the 2002 Pick 6 Breeders Cup Scandal.....sometimes greed is bad. Heres the link: http://www.nytimes.com/2003/03/21/sports/horse-racing-3-sentenced-in-breeders-cup-betting-plot.html
just woke up in lagrange ky at the lovely home of our owner trainer friends , looking out window onto hundreds of acres of bluegrass, taking a trip to high point before a great day at the races.
And at last we are here with the Breeders Cups! Wishing the best to my dear friend Javier Castellano and to venezuelan fellow Ramon Dominguez! God bless you on this lovely and wonderful day!
Don't get caught up in the Uncle Mo hype. Look for: (1) Flat Out, (2) Rattlesnake Bridge, (3) Ruler On Ice, (4) Game On Dude, (5) Havre De Grace. To see why I picked these, look at the graph at: http://www.br549.co.cc/wiki
HAPPY BREEDERS' CUP... May your next wager be a winning one!

Looks like Flat Out got the rail with scratch of Prayer For Relief. I've read the rail is death at CD. Comments from the "Nation?"

  • travel_vic · I work with people who are involved in Day's race track chaplin's association and they have nothing but good things to say about his "after life" and how he helps the backstretch employees with their many problems. a CLASS act both ON and OFF the track. · 4107 days ago
With all the attention going to Todd Pletchers "other" horse, I think Stay Thirsty is kinda flying under the radar. Not saying he will post the win, but I do think he will finish in the money
Is there any way to buy the Official Breeders Cup Program/Race Card? I live in TX and am looking for a way to buy the paper copy of the program, just as memoribilia or something to keep as memory of this. Is there any place I can buy it online or something?

questions about bc screener???
I'm getting so freaking antsy. for the greatest day in sports history. I wish i was there friday to celbrate with the queen!!
Bodog has Uncle Mo 7-2 and HDG at 9-2
What a pathetic excuse for a Breeders Cup Classic field. The favorite has done no more than win a grade 2 at a mile this year!!!!! Seriously?!! Is this the best we can do? I wish Zenyatta was still running, she'd dust this group by 5!

  • getthefacts · Well I know this race features 6 horses all of whom have won going 1 1/4 this year. 5 of them doing so on dirt. The favorite even tho he has only raced 4 times has at least faced and beaten grade 1 winners this year. And he eve had a viable excuse not to is he hadn't but he did. What was Zenyatta's excuse for facing dog food competition last year? Ohh no one would come face her, really is that the best you can come up with? This years edition features 9 grade 1 winners, last years had 7. · 4108 days ago
  • LAZMANNICK · ICY. I would really like to see Mo win for a number of reasons, one of course being that it might add some badly needed star quality to North American horse racing. He was originally our answer to Frankel so what better stage than to get back on top? Several concerns about Mo’s last race: it was only at a mile and he ran it that way and had little left if challenged going further, especially another 2f. There was no speed to challenge him in the Kelso like there will be if they choose to go to the front in the BCC. He ran fast, but it was controlled. Jackson Bend is not a speed horse, in fact, is an excellent come from behind type so his race in the Kelso wasn’t a true indication of what would have been if he was a speed horse. Mo has never won beyond 8.5f and that was last year. Foundation means a lot going 10f against the so called best and he will have to be at his absolute best to prevail in here. I hope he does. I wonder how Buckpasser would have competed in here. Good luck. · 4108 days ago
