**Barbaro(PU) Broke Early And Went Through The Starting Gate. He Was Soon Pulled Up And Reloaded. In 4th When He Broke Down On His Off Hind After One Furlong And Immediately Pulled Up Jockey Edgar Prado. A very lengthy leg Surgery Followed, Along With A Very Lengthy Hospital Stay So Dr.'s Might Observe His Healing Time And To Oversee Any Future Physical Therapy. The Healing Went Slow, But Barbaro According To His Surgical Team Was Doing Better Than Expected With His Daily Therapy & Exercise. Unfortunately, Because His Leg Was In A Cast For Such A Long Time, Barbaro's Leg Got Very Rigged And Stiff Because Of The Cast And All The Surgically Inserted Stainless Steel Plates And Screws. While The Broken Hind Leg Would Eventually Heal, The Displacement Of Weight Spread Out Onto 3 Of His Legs Instead Of All 4, Which Caused Him To Develop Laminitis In Both Front Hooves, Which Kept Him Constant Severe Pain. The Veterinarians And Owners Finally Concluded Barbaro Couldn't Be Saved And He Was Sadly Euthanized On January 29, 2007.** https://youtu.be/mJSDqOXjKjE
