Richard J. Hills

It was announced today that jockey Richard Hills will be retiring from the saddle after he rides his mounts on this year's Dubai World Cup night card. Hills has been the #1 jockey for Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum and Shadwell for some 15+ years now. A job you don't maintain by being a poor jockey!! I always thought Richard Hills was a very underrated jockey myself. At his best, IMO, on horses that like to go to the front. I've seen Richard Hills win more races from the front end than about any other jockey that I can think of? Very talented jockey that was always super aware of what was happening around him with other horses in a race!! I wish Hills all the best in the next chapter of his life, wherever it might take him? A terrific gentleman who truly brought a lot of class to the sport over the years!!
