With four wins yesterday including back-to-back Grade Is in the Shoemaker Mile and the Vanity Stakes, Joe Talamo opened a Bejarano-esque lead in Santa Anita’s Spring Meet jockey standings, 34-24, over runner-up Tyler Baze. Talamo won the last three races with horses breaking from the No. 1 post position: Obviously ($5.40) in the Shoemaker; Iotapa (11.20) in the Vanity; and first-time starter Warrenscrystalized ($32.20) for trainer Jorge Gutierrez in the ninth. The 1-1-1 Talamo Late Pick 3 paid $169.20 for a buck.

Del Mar's Thursday Twitter twist -- #TalamoTakeover -- where rider Joe Talamo has taken over the track's Twitter site to send out cyber messages about a-day-in-the-life-of-a-jockey, is currently underway and gaining great momentum. Would like to see him suspended on account of his whipping the 4 in the Las Virgenes after the pair were beat 10 lengths and had no shot for 3rd and were not competing for 4th. He was actually hitting her, rapidly, you could hear it on the tape. Disgusting

I sent a letter to him on January 9th and he hasn't replied yet. Does anyone know him and if he will ever reply or not? He is my favorite jockey and I really hope he will reply. He replied last time I wrote him within a month, but its been over 2 months now.

I just watched Season 1 of Jockeys...loved it! My father says he is "stuck up" and thinks himself "all hot" and I was so mad! He is certainly not! (as far as I can tell, since I don't know him in person) I highly recommend season1 and 2 of Jockeys to any horse racing lover, or to anyone with a passion with what happens beyond the backstretch with jockeys

I really hope I get to meet him someday soon. I hope he gets an Indiana Derby mount. Since I wrote that letter to him, I've been watching a lot more of his races, and he is so good! Can anyone tell me if tey think he will EVER ride at Hoosier park?

shores · @TampaBayDowns Fan, I couldn't help noticing that you mentioned that you live somewhere near Hoosier Park. Why not check the movie listings to see where it is playing and if it plays anywhere near your neck of the woods in Indiana. Then maybe you can see it right when it comes out and not have to wait! · 4109 days ago

I asked a couple questions: what its like in the gate, what is his favorite kind of horse (closer, front-runner, etc.) and how he twirls the whip when he is riding a race. He replied AND gave me one of his pictures of him in the winner's cirlce! He was so nice in the letter! I hope very much that one day he races at my home track, Hoosier Park, but only he can decide that. · 4116 days ago
