Though your horse ran up the track in the Indiana Derby, I found it interesting your recent success with the 3-year-old ranks. 2010 - Paddy O'Prado(2nd-BlueGrass; 3rd-Ky Derby); First Dude(3rd-BlueGrass; 2nd-Preakness; 3rd-Belmont; 3rd-Haskell; 3rd-Travers); Shackleford(2nd-Florida Derby; 1st-Preakness; 2nd-Haskell; 2nd-BC Dirt Mile); Dullahan-(1st-BlueGrass; 3rd-Ky Derby; 1st-Pacific Classic). Nice going, as a trainer from the Midwest. With all the debate between the west and the east, it's nice to see somebody from the heartland of America, included in the ranks with other small-time trainers, Larry Jones, Hal Wiggins(retired trainer of Rachel Alexandra); Lynn Whiting(Lil' E Tee), and Wayne Cataluna, all successfully show their class in big races. Hats off to Dale... He really has made Shackleford into a force in the 3 yo division this season. Many people have questioned him rescently but I dont understand why? He put this horse in all the dances and gave him a chance to be a star. If more trainers would challenge there horses instead of taking the easy way out it would sure be alot nicer for the fans.

icyhotboo · Dalee Romans is an excellent trainer and after winning the Preakness he had to give him a shot at the Belmont. I question why put him in at 1 1/4 mile which I believe at the point in time entries were take he had to hope for something unexpected to even get in the money. · 4167 days ago
