Alan P. Jarvis

The career of British flat trainer Alan Jarvis, which spans more than 40 years, will come to an end after losing his appeal on Tuesday against the British Horseracing Authority's decision back in March to not grant Jarvis a training license. The BHA announced in March that Jarvis would no longer be granted a license to train after deciding he was "not a suitable person." The reasons for the decision were not revealed at the end of the first meeting in March, although Jarvis declared bankrupt last year over debts owed to Doncaster Bloodstock Sales, Ltd. which have still not been settled. Jarvis was granted a temporary license to continue operating from his Buckinghamshire stables pending the decision of his appeal which was announced earlier Tuesday. His son Tim Jarvis is now hoping to assume control at Mill Race Stables where Alan Jarvis had trained from for many years.
