Was it him who had the fever? Ok, memory fails me if so. Regardless, point remains as you stated about lack of soundness issues.
Sometimes horses just get beat, even great horses. 3 weeks is plenty of time for most horses. He wouldn't have been entered unless Walsh saw he had energy and doing well.
In addition to the top 4 here who are all good horses you have Charlatan, Mystic, Knicks and Happy Saver. Damn good race on any day.
Most Grade 1 races only have a few if that Grade 1 horses. The top 4 here are all 1 caliber without much doubt. All ran very well great race.
Yeah that was the injury suffered right before the Derby. Nah sorry I'm not excusing those statements of training up due to a hushed up unsoundness, fact is modern racing is filled with trainers and owners who just don't want to race their horses, it's just the way it is.
Even if case, which never has been brought by anyone associated with her to my knowledge, we're talking 6 months not 3.. it's all about protecting the investment.
Don't think so, they stated they would train up to the Original Derby date off a 2 - 3 month layoff so it's just trainers choice.. no talk of him being unsound prior to his pre-Derby injury.
Only lost by 2 lengths ran a good time on a slow track. 10 f is not a problem.
3 weeks away.
Charlatan, Mystic Guide are hardly mediocre. Think Maxfield will prove himself to be what most thought. Idol an Express are strong and Happy Saver is waiting in the wings. Don't care mediocre at all, tho the 3 gals should run against them regardless their that good.
