    • AnnaK · I'm with you Exterminator on Calidoscopio. His longevity and distance abilities are the rarest things. · 3150 days ago
    Final Pick: 1 - Will Take Charge, 2 - Romansh, 3 - Palace Malice, 4 - Orb.
Anyone recommend any good restaurants in Saratoga?

    • Tommyod · In the town itself, the Parting Glass is really good, it's off Broadway. Inside the track, my personal favorite is this Carolina BBQ place, I think it might actually just be called Carolina BBQ. · 3395 days ago
    i luved being at saratoga
I think Paynter will win. Maybe Alpha, then Neck N Neck or Nonios.
This could be Hansens race, if hes gotten a bit stronger and prepares well, might be a great tussle with Bodemeister, either way the speed up front will bury Union Rags,

Forgive my ignorance here, but why was the Travers reduce to 9f several times in the past 15 years?
    • Mary Z. · Someone just entered the incorrect distance for the 2000,'03, and '08 runnings, AD. You're forgiven. It was run at 10f. for those years, too. · 3878 days ago
Raison d'Etat...strong pick for Travers...worth strong win bet with pedigree and seems to be getting better each start..definitely my "dark horse" pick
Will Hurricane Irene have an effect on the track condition for Saturday's Travers?
    • mdracing69 · At this stage it looks like mostly cloudy skies throughout Travers day with rain arriving after 7pm ET. · 4122 days ago
Sorry I meant M/L for the Traves not Haskell.
I'm not sure how Stay Thirsty is the morning line favorite for the Haskell, with the Belmont, Preakness, and Haskell winners entered this doesn't make much sense. I'm sure he want be the post time favorite I just don't understand how they determine the morning line, I guess because of his track record at Saratoga?
Stay Thirsty, Ruler on Ice, Coil and Shackleford in these order.
Post Positions out: The Travers Post Positions: 1 Bowman's Causeway 2 Rattlesnake Bridge 3 Moonshine Mullin 4 Ruler on Ice ...5 Malibu Glow 6 Raison d'Etat 7 Coil 8 J W Blue 9 Stay Thirsty 10 Shackleford
Travers Week begins now ... Vote on the new Zipse at the Track poll!
The Travers stakes is the crown jewel outside the Kentucky derby. I don't agree with Brian Zipse. I believe that the connections of a horse will use a race like the Haskell or Jim Dandy to set a horse up to win the Travers stakes. The breeding value of the horse is where the money is at. If you win the Travers you are securing more significant breeding value for the horse then winning the Haskell or Jim Dandy.

    • ruffian75 · Very true, Michael. Don't you think that the feat that Tiznow accomplished, winning as a 3 yr old, and coming back to defend his honor in the BC Classic, a feat that is great? Funny, when everybody talks about the great horses of yesteryear, is name for seldom ever comes up? And icyhotboo, I envy you. I'm from the MW, but I recommend everyone that lives a distance from Saratoga, to make the trek once in their life. The Hall Of Fame is cool to visit. · 4188 days ago
    • BrianZipse · Not exactly what I was saying, Michael ... The Travers is a bigger race than the Haskell. All I said was I believe that Concealed Identity is pointing for the Haskell. If he wins the Haskell, it will be the biggest win for their stable, bar none. For many horses, the Haskell is the destination and goal of the second half of the season, depending on the horse's preference for distance, and the connection's willingness to ship. Some will try to do both big ones. After the completion of the Triple Crown, the Travers is the biggest race, and the Haskell is the 2nd biggest race for 3-year-olds. The Jim Dandy is not that comparable to the Haskell in stature. It is a prep for the Travers, the Haskell is not, just as the Preakness is not a prep for the Belmont. I hope this clears up my position on the subject. · 4188 days ago
