Saturday's 11th race (6:07pm CT) from Oaklawn Park is the Grade I Arkansas Derby for 3-year-olds traveling a mile and an eighth on the main track.

#6 Commissioner (8-1) was a victim of the GP speed bias in the G2 FOY and rallied to finish a better than appears 3rd behind two Baffert speedsters after a bad start in the G3 Sunland Derby. The well-bred Pletcher/WinStar colt gets the services of Mike Smith and can qualify for the Derby with an Exacta finish.

#9 Strong Mandate (9-2) is an enigmatic sort for Lukas and this is his last chance to make the Derby gate. You never know what you are going to get from a performance and running style standpoint. He gets a new pilot (Saez) and I would like to see him try to rally like he did in the G3 Southwest. He has the raw talent and pedigree. He just needs to blend the mental and physical together.

#3 Tapiture (9-5) always runs his early-pressing race and might have been best in a troubled G2 Rebel place finish. He receives a rider switch to Rosario and can win this with a clean trip.

#8 Bayern (2-1) is fast, talented, and undefeated, but gives up seasoning to his more experienced main rivals. He missed the G2 San Felipe with a foot bruise. Baffert dominates these Oaklawn preps for the sophomore set. He drilled a strong 7f SA bullet for this and figures in the hunt throughout under Stevens.
