Yes I’ll Go went directly into the Gulfstream Park West winner’s circle Sunday after debuting with a front-running nine-length victory in the fourth race.
The Jorge Navarro-trained 2-year-old filly ran six furlongs in a dazzling 1:09.90 under Emisael Jaramillo. The daughter of Yes It’s True set fractions of 21.99 seconds, 44.92 and 57.30 before drawing away from her six rivals in the maiden special weight event for Florida-bred juvenile fillies.
“We expected her to win,” Navarro said.
Yes I’ll Go, who had a strong series of workouts at Monmouth Park and Gulfstream Park West in preparation for her debut, was sent to post as the 2-1 second choice in the betting.
“She showed a lot of speed from the gate in her workouts,” Navarro said. “We’re going to enjoy this and see what’s next for her.”
Who’s Calling, the 9-5 favorite ridden by Juan Leyva, finished second, 7 ¼ lengths ahead of third-place finisher Cubagua and jockey Carlos Olivero.
