Works report: Casa Creed, War Like Goddess tune up

Trainer Bill Mott sent out two of the nation's leading turf horses for workouts at the Spa Monday morning, three-time Grade 1 winner Casa Creed and Grade 1 winner War Like Goddess. Both recorded works for 50.44 seconds over the dirt training track at the Spa.

For Casa Creed, Monday's drill is expected to be his final work before a start in the Keeneland Turf Mile (G1) on Saturday. War Like Goddess is also tuning up for a start Saturday, though hers will be closer to home. She is planning to take on males for the first time in her career in the Joe Hirsch Turf Classic (G1) at Aqueduct.

Casa Creed (Jimmy Creed), a three-time Grade 1 winner (2022 Fourstardave, 2022 Jaipur, 2021 Jaipur), worked four furlongs in 50.4 seconds at Saratoga on Monday morning. It was the ninth fastest of 19 works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Saratoga. In his last start he won the Fourstardave (G1) going one mile on the turf at Saratoga on Aug. 13 for trainer Bill Mott.

Shantisara (Coulsty), a Grade 1 winner (2021 Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup), worked four furlongs in 48.4 seconds on turf at Saratoga on Monday morning. It was the fastest of 16 works at the distance. Her previous work was eight days ago going three furlongs at Saratoga. In her last start she placed second in the Jenny Wiley (G1) going 1 1/16 miles on the turf at Keeneland on April 16 for trainer Chad Brown.

War Like Goddess (English Channel), a Grade 1 winner (2021 Flower Bowl), worked four furlongs in 50.4 seconds at Saratoga on Monday morning. It was the ninth fastest of 19 works at the distance. Her previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Saratoga. In her last start she placed second in the Flower Bowl (G2) going 1 3/8 miles on the turf at Saratoga on Sept. 3 for trainer Bill Mott.

Somelikeithotbrown (Big Brown), a two-time Grade 2 winner (2021 Dinner Party, 2020 Bernard Baruch), worked four furlongs in 48.6 seconds at Churchill Training on Monday morning. It was the fourth fastest of 10 works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he won the Mint Million (G3) going one mile on the turf at Kentucky Downs on Sept. 10 for trainer Mike Maker.

Travel Column (Frosted), a two-time Grade 2 winner (2021 Fair Grounds Oaks, 2020 Golden Rod), worked four furlongs in 48.7 seconds at Saratoga on Monday morning. It was the fastest of 19 works at the distance. Her previous work was seven days ago going five furlongs at Saratoga. In her last start she placed fourth in the Ballerina (G1) going seven furlongs on the main track at Saratoga on Aug. 28 for trainer Bill Mott.

Wicked Halo (Gun Runner), a two-time Grade 2 winner (2022 Prioress, 2021 Adirondack), worked four furlongs in 51.2 seconds seconds at Keeneland on Monday morning. It was the fifth fastest of 10 works at the distance. Her previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Churchill Downs. In her last start she won the Prioress (G2) going six furlongs on the main track at Saratoga on Sept. 2 for trainer Steve Asmussen.

Bellabel (Belardo), a Grade 2 winner (2022 San Clemente), worked four furlongs in 50.8 seconds at Santa Anita on Monday morning. It was the 24th fastest of 27 works at the distance. Her previous work was seven days ago going five furlongs at Santa Anita. In her last start she placed second in the Del Mar Oaks (G1) going 1 1/8 miles on the turf at Del Mar on Aug. 20 for trainer Philip D'Amato.

Desert Dawn (Cupid), a Grade 2 winner (2022 Santa Anita Oaks), worked five furlongs in 1:00.6 at Santa Anita on Monday morning. It was the 14th fastest of 43 works at the distance. Her previous work was seven days ago going five furlongs at Santa Anita. In her last start she placed second in the Torrey Pines (G3) going one mile on the main track at Del Mar on Sept. 4 for trainer Philip D'Amato.

Leggs Galore (Bayern), a Grade 2 winner (2022 Buena Vista), worked five furlongs in 1:01.6 at Santa Anita on Monday morning. It was the 10th fastest of 17 works at the distance. Her previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Santa Anita. In her last start she placed second in an allowance race going five furlongs on the turf at Del Mar on Sept. 2 for trainer Philip D'Amato.

Long Range Toddy (Take Charge Indy), a Grade 2 winner (2019 Rebel), worked four furlongs in 48.6 seconds at Churchill Downs on Monday morning. It was the eighth fastest of 22 works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he placed fifth in an allowance race going 6 1/2 furlongs on the main track at Churchill Downs on Sept. 23 for trainer Dallas Stewart.

Messier (Empire Maker), a two-time Grade 3 winner (2022 Robert B. Lewis, 2021 Bob Hope), worked four furlongs in 47.2 seconds at Santa Anita on Monday morning. It was the second fastest of 51 works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Santa Anita. In his last start he placed 15th in the Kentucky Derby (G1) going 1 1/4 miles on the main track at Churchill Downs on May 7 for trainer Tim Yakteen.

Newgrange (Violence), a two-time Grade 3 winner (2022 Southwest, 2022 Sham), worked five furlongs in 1:01.2 at Santa Anita on Monday morning. It was the 19th fastest of 43 works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going six furlongs at Santa Anita. In his last start he placed third in the Shared Belief going one mile on the main track at Del Mar on Sept. 3 for trainer Philip D'Amato.
