Works report: Art Collector and more do final pre-Pegasus drills

Art Collector, drawn in post No. 6 for the Pegasus World Cup on Saturday, had his final work on Sunday before that race. He worked four furlongs in 50.0 seconds at Payson Park. The 10-time winner most recently finished fifth in the Lukas Classic (G2) on Oct. 1, and he has been back on the tab regularly since mid-December.

Among entrants for the Pegasus World Cup Turf, Graham Motion's pair had final works Sunday as well. Speaking Scout and Hurricane Dream worked in company, going five furlongs in 58.0.

Speaking Scout, who won the Hollywood Derby (G1) in his last start Dec. 3, will face older for the first time in the Pegasus Turf. Hurricane Dream, a regular presence in exactas and trifectas in Group races in France and Germany last year, makes his first American start on Saturday. Speaking Scout drew post No. 7 for the Pegasus Turf, and Hurricane Dream breaks from post No. 4.

Master Piece, drawn in post No. 11 for the Pegasus World Cup Turf, worked Sunday at Gulfstream Park for Saffie Joseph Jr. Last seen finishing eighth in the Breeders' Cup Turf for Michael McCarthy, Master Piece worked four furlongs over the Gulfstream dirt in 51.24. On the tab at Santa Anita in November and December, he has been drilling regularly at Gulfstream since Jan. 1.

It was the 20th fastest of 52 works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Payson Park. In his last start he placed ninth in the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint going 5 1/2 furlongs on the turf at Keeneland on Nov. 5 for trainer Bill Mott.

Pauline's Pearl (Tapit), a Grade 1 winner (2022 La Troienne), worked four furlongs in 50.2 seconds at Fair Grounds on Sunday morning. It was the 25th fastest of 41 works at the distance. Her previous work was seven days ago going five furlongs at Fair Grounds.
