Works report: 45 graded-stakes winners take to the track

A total of 45 graded stakes winners took to North American racetracks on Saturday to prepare for some of the richest stakes races of the summer.

Among the workers were the brilliant Flightline, who recorded a bullet six furlong drill at Del Mar ahead of his expected start in the Pacific Classic (G1) on Sept. 3.

Meanwhile, runners with their eyes on the Travers Stakes (G1) at Saratoga also were recording timed workouts in preparation for the Midsummer Derby on Aug. 27.

Here are the other graded-stakes winners who worked on Saturday:

Sharp Starr (Munnings), a Grade 3 winner (2020 Go for Wand H.), worked five furlongs in 1:02.8 at Belmont Park on Saturday morning. It was the third fastest of seven works at the distance. Her previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Belmont Park. In her last start she placed ninth in the Heavenly Cause going one mile on the main track at Laurel Park on April 16 for trainer Horacio De Paz.

Tribhuvan (FR) (Toronado (IRE)), a two-time Grade 1 winner (2022 Manhattan, 2021 United Nations), worked four furlongs in 49.9 seconds at Belmont Park on Saturday morning. It was the fourth fastest of 84 works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Belmont Park. Miles Ahead (Competitive Edge), a Grade 3 winner (2021 Smile Sprint Invitational), worked five furlongs in 1:02.2 at Churchill Downs on Saturday morning.
