Eclipse Award winner Jackie’s Warrior continued his buildup to a pair of high-profile sprints this summer at Saratoga with a workout Sunday morning at Churchill Downs.

A four-time Grade 1 winner, Jackie’s Warrior went five furlongs in 1:01.2 over a fast main track in his second breeze since he won the True North (G2), at Belmont Park. Last Sunday he covered a half-mile on the same course in 50.2 seconds.

Trainer Steve Asmussen has targeted the six-furlong Alfred G. Vanderbilt Handicap (G1) on July 30 and the seven-furlong Forego (G1) for the 4-year-old Maclean’s Music colt.

With a 3-for-3 record in 2022, Jackie’s Warrior is bidding to win his second consecutive championship in the male-sprint division.
