Workouts: Epicenter breezes, Double Thunder returns to tab

Epicenter, a two-time Grade 2 winner and second in the Kentucky Derby and Preakness for trainer Steve Asmussen, worked out at Churchill Downs Monday morning.

One of the 3-year-old division's leaders, he drilled an easy four furlongs in 50.6 seconds. It was the Not This Time son's second work since his second-place finish behind Early Voting in the Preakness; his first workout after that classic placing was June 13.

Monday's worktab also featured the first published drill in 2022 of one of last year's promising juveniles. Double Thunder, who won two stakes as a 2-year-old, breezed Monday for the first time since finishing eighth in the 2021 Breeders' Cup Juvenile.

Trained by Todd Pletcher, the son of Super Saver won the Bashford Manor (G3) at Churchill Downs and the Sapling at Monmouth, and he finished second behind Rattle N Roll in the Breeders' Futurity (G1) at Keeneland.
