Ten days after being a distant second in the Coaching Club American Oaks (G1), Secret Oath was back to work at Saratoga for trainer D. Wayne Lukas on Tuesday.

The Kentucky Oaks winner, who was beaten 12 ¼ lengths by Nest in the July 23 Coaching Club American Oaks, drilled five furlongs in 1:00.2. Secret Oath is expected to return in the 1 1/4-miles  Alabama (G1) on Aug. 20. The Alabama could serve as the “rubber match” between Secret Oath and Nest, who ran 1-2 in the Kentucky Oaks.

Secret Oath’s defeat  in the Coaching Club was her first loss against fillies since last November’s Golden Rod (G2) at Churchill Downs. She has twice taken on males this year with a third in the Arkansas Derby (G1) and fourth in the Preakness.
