Wise Dan vs. Excelebration in BC Mile

Wise Dan vs Excelebration in the BC Mile

It's Europe vs. America as classy overseas invader Excelebration squares off against razor sharp US hope Wise Dan in Saturday's Grade I Breeders' Cup Mile at Santa Anita Park.

Excelebration has won six of his last ten and Frankel bested him in his four losses. He exits back-to-back group one wins at a flat mile and is an obvious threat for Aidan O'Brien.

Wise Dan shoots for graded turf mile four-bagger on Saturday and he figures in the thick of things throughout from post position 2.

Obviously has won three straight flat mile turf events and figures to attempt a wire job under Joe Talamo.

2011 Kentucky Derby hero Animal Kingdom makes his first start in more than eight months. He was right there is both turf starts and will try to get involved late under new pilot Rafael Bejarano.

Mr. Commons, Jeranimo, Willcox Inn, Suggestive Boy, and Moonlight Cloud round out the field.

1 MR. COMMONS John Shirreffs Brice Blanc 12-1
2 WISE DAN Charles Lopresti John Velazquez 9-5
3 OBVIOUSLY Mike Mitchell Joe Talamo 6-1
4 JERANIMO Mike Pender Garrett Gomez 15-1
5 ANIMAL KINGDOM Graham Motion Rafael Bejarano 8-1
6 EXCELEBRATION Aidan O'Brien Joseph O'Brien 2-1
7 WILLCOX INN Mike Stidham James Graham 30-1
8 SUGGESTIVE BOY Ron McAnally Mike Smith 15-1
9 MOONLIGHT CLOUD Freddie Head Thierry Jarnet 6-1

I would wager aganist ANY horse coming from that long a layoff first out back
Like I've said before, my confidence in Motion is strong- he wouldn't have entered AK if he didn't think he could work some magic. I'll be shocked if he doesn't hit the board
The fans want AK to come back and come back strong. A great effort in this quality of race would get them excited. Hitting the board as pointed out would be huge ... a win spectacular.
That field is to strong for him to hit the board off that long layoff with just works. However I have a lot of respect for Graham Motion. If he wins it he should get HOTY
Like Derby 137 ... Animal Kingdom and Graham Motion shock the world. Graham Motion says ,"I think this horse can do anything. I really do." We'll all see on Saturday.
I like Excelebration/Moonlight Cloud/AK/Wise Dan. I have a feeling AK is a ticking time bomb, and will show VERY well in the Mile on his return.
Valuable insight from Aidan himself on his BC horses...a must read: http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2012/oct/31/aidan-obrien-excelebration-breeders-cup

Sorry for the double post it was a mistake.
There doesn't seem to be much speed in this race besides Obviously. He could be very dangerous once again & his times posted @ SA are legit.......THREAT TO STEAL IT!

Not if he runs under 133 again
Wise Dan will run down Obviously
Tough race but going with Obviously wire to wire
As long as she acts ok at SA, she has been my pick since Freddie said she would be running here.
9. Moon Light Cloud - 6. Excelebration - 5. Animal Kingdom
