Flightline earned the year's highest Beyer Speed Figure, 118, for his 11 1/2-length win in the Malibu Stakes (G2) Sunday at Santa Anita, according to Jay Privman of the Daily Racing Form.
Previously, the highest Beyer this year, 114, was earned by Flightline and Baby Yoda. Flightline's was for a Sept. 5 win in an allowance race at Del Mar, for which he also received the highest TimeformUS Speed Figure of the year (135, tied with Life Is Good in the H. Allen Jerkens) and the highest Brisnet rating (117). Baby Yoda's was for a Sept. 6 allowance race at Saratoga. Baby Yoda finished second in the Malibu.
Flightline, a 3-year-old Tapit colt trained by John Sadler, covered seven furlongs in 1:21.37 Sunday on a track rated as fast. Two races earlier, the seven-furlong La Brea (G1) for sophomore fillies was won by Kalypso in a final time of 1:24.78.
Mark Milligan of TimeformUS awarded Flightline a 133 figure for the Malibu.
A truly astonishing performance. Flightline's new @Timeform rating of 133p is the highest I've ever awarded a horse on just their third career start @SportingLife https://t.co/cqY8lbr2vD
