Not only was his 34-1 victory one of the biggest upsets of the weekend, but Lexitonian also had some of the best speed numbers.

With his surprise victory Saturday in the six-furlong Alfred G. Vanderbilt Handicap (G1), the 5-year-old Speightstown horse had a Beyer Speed Figure of 102, according to the Daily Racing Form. That made Lexitonian’s performance the fastest since 4-year-old gelding Wondrwherecraigis produced the same number in a sprint allowance victory July 18 at Pimlico.

Lexitonian also received a TimeformUS Speed Figure of 124, the third-best among Saratoga winners Saturday and Sunday. Jackie’s Warrior earned a 130 for his victory in the slop Sunday in the Amsterdam (G2). Cross Border got a 125, the best Spa weekend figure for a two-turn race, after winning Saturday on the turf in the Bowling Green (G2).

Ratings were not immediately available for Shedaresthedevil’s victory at Del Mar on Sunday in the Clement L. Hirsch Stakes (G1).
