Watch: U of L Equine Program kicks off Fall Speaker Series

The University of Louisville Equine Industry Program and Horse Racing Nation are proud to present the first of the Fall Speaker Series tonight at 5:30 p.m. EDT.

The topic is "Examining Racing's 'Super Card' Trend," when a racetrack combines all of its biggest stakes into a single big day. This is thought to appeal to fans and stand out among bettors – but what does this mean for the rest of the meet in terms of excitement and purses?

Tonight's panel features:

  • Eric Halstrom - vice president and general manager of racing, Indiana Grand Racetrack & Casino
  • Ben Huffman - vice president, racing and racing secretary, Churchill Downs and Keeneland
  • Jon Moss - executive director, Iowa HBPA Inc.
The panel will be moderated by Mark Midland, co-founder and CEO of HRN.

The UofL Equine Industry Program, with the support of Horse Racing Nation, is proud to present a three-part fall speaker series that focuses on current issues in the horse racing industry.

This free event series brings experts to a LIVE, fun and engaging platform to educate students, alumni, industry participants and the general public.
