Watch: Essential Quality records 1st breeze since Travers win

Three weeks after scoring the fourth Grade 1 victory of his career, Essential Quality returned to the work tab Saturday morning.

The 3-year-old Tapit colt drilled four furlongs in 49.4 seconds at Churchill Downs, ranking 54th of 110 works at the distance. Saturday marked his first workout since winning Saratoga’s Travers Stakes (G1) by a neck over Midnight Bourbon.

Essential Quality is 8-for-9 in his career with $4.22 million earned for trainer Brad Cox and owner/breeder Godolphin. He leads the latest Breeders’ Cup Classic Rankings over stablemate Knicks Go, who also worked Saturday at Churchill.

The four-time Grade 1 winner Knicks Go breezed six furlongs under the Twin Spires in 1:12.8, the only work at the track over the distance. After taking Saratoga’s Whitney Stakes (G1) in his last start, the 5-year-old son of Paynter is pointing to Churchill’s $400,000 Lukas Classic (G3) on Oct. 2 as a Breeders’ Cup Classic prep.

Crazy Beautiful (Liam's Map) a two time Grade 2 winner (2021 Summertime Oaks 2021 Gulfstream Park Oaks) worked 5 furlongs in 1:01.8 at Churchill Downs on Saturday morning. It was the 40th fastest of 64 works at the distance. Her previous work was 12 days ago going 4 furlongs at Saratoga. In her last start she placed 6th in the Alabama (G1) going 1 1/4 miles on the main track at Saratoga on August 21 for trainer Kenny McPeek.

Estilo Talentoso (Maclean's Music) a Grade 3 winner (2021 Bed o' Roses) worked 4 furlongs in 47.2 at Delaware Park on Saturday morning. It was the fastest of 38 works at the distance. This is her first work since her last race. In her last start she placed 5th in the Ketel One Ballerina H. (G1) going 7 furlongs on the main track at Saratoga on August 28 for trainer Juan Arriagada.

Field Pass (Lemon Drop Kid) a three time Grade 3 winner (2021 Baltimore/Washington International Turf Cup 2020 Transylvania 2020 Jeff Ruby Steaks) worked 5 furlongs in 1:01.2 at Churchill Training on Saturday morning. It was the 8th fastest of 13 works at the distance. His previous work was 7 days ago going 4 furlongs at Churchill Training. In his last start he placed 8th in the Fourstardave H. (G1) going 1 mile on the turf at Saratoga on August 14 for trainer Mike Maker.
