A 14-race card is on tap for Preakness Stakes day at Pimlico Race Course, and with multiple price plays on the program, let's see if we can boost our bankroll for the feature with a trio of money-making opportunities prior to the big race.

Pimlico Race 7: Searching Stakes

Favorite: #5 Ickymasho (8-5)

Jose Ortiz rides the sharp early-pressing type. She should be tough throughout if this pace is on the tepid side. This 12-furlong distance is a bit beyond her best, but this is not the toughest field.

Value Win Contender: #2 Homeland Security (9-2)

Reconnects with winning rider Irad Ortiz Jr., and she won both of her stakes starts at this distance last year.

Live Longshot: #8 Peach of a Gal (12-1)

Runs like she will handle marathon distances. Jose Vargas Jr. and Graham Motion are a profitable combination, and she can spice up the exotics if she likes today’s added ground.

Wagers: #2 to win, exacta 2-5/8, trifecta 2-5/ALL/8

Pimlico Race 8 - Allowance $52,000

Favorite: #1 Articulator (5-2)

Should show speed from the rail for Irad Ortiz Jr. and Jorge Navarro. All three of his wins were at this distance.

Value Win Contenders: #8 I’m an Ocala Dude (4-1), #9 Overdeliver (3-1)

The former owns early-pressing speed and quality speed figures. The latter ran well in his first two sprints and was eliminated early in the Wood Memorial (G2). He reconnects with winning rider John Velazquez.

Live Longshot: #2 Day the Music Died (12-1)

He was my HRN best bet on Thursday, but he scratched and shows up in this spot instead. He
stalked, pounced and graduated from an outer post in a $40,000 maiden claimer as the favorite at Laurel second time out, and the runner-up was a next-out winner. He projects an inner tactical trip today and can compete here with a forward move.

Wagers: #2 to win, exacta 2/1-8-9, exacta 1-8-9/2, trifecta 1-8-9/1-8-9/2

Pimlico Race 9 - The Very One Stakes

Favorite: #6 Jo Jo Air (3-1)

Removed blinkers and captured two of her last three starts for fine turf sprint trainer Wesley Ward. Saturday's rider, John Velazquez, was aboard for her April 27 win at Churchill Downs.

Value Win Contender: #8 Misericordia (4-1)

She is interesting if she can move up in her third start of the year. She won Laurel turf sprints last July and October, and jockey Jevian Toledo was aboard for the sharp win in October.

Live Longshots: #4 Souper Echo (9-2), #9 Wild About Star (9-2)

Souper Echo removed blinkers and ran well in her last pair, including a surface switching win in a Laurel turf sprint April 22  She is sharp enough to step up and play ball with these. Wild About Star lost her last three starts but has a decent overall turf sprint record. She can compete here if she rediscovers her sharp form.

Wagers: #8 to win, exacta 8/4-6-9, exacta 4-6-9/8, trifecta 6-8/4-6-8-9/4-6-8-9
