This year's Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies was a compact field, but it was loaded with talent that could land in the Kentucky Oaks next spring at Churchill Downs. The winner, Vequist, and runner-up Dayoutoftheoffice lead the HRN Juvenile Fillies Rankings.

With their performance this month at Keeneland, they passed their first two-turn test with flying colors. Girl Daddy and Simply Ravishing ran well enough to be encouraged by their prospects going forward.

These four fillies will continue to see dangerous fresh faces emerge as their 2-year-old seasons wind down.

One of these emerging talents appears to be Richard Mandella's Astute. The daughter of Speightstown has shot up to No. 3 in the rankings after a dominant score in the Desi Arnaz Stakes at Del Mar. She will have an opportunity to build her resume when she takes on Princess Noor, a disappointing fifth in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies, in the Starlet (G1) on Dec. 5 at Los Alamitos.

Coach remained undefeated from three starts with a score in the Rags to Riches Stakes. The Brad Cox trainee moved up to No. 5 and will have a chance to continue her rise when she challenges Simply Ravishing in the Golden Rod (G2) on Saturday at Churchill Downs.

Minute Waltz, an impressive debut winner for trainer Phil Bauer, continues to gain buzz and has advanced to No. 6.

With so many intriguing maiden races across the country during the long Thanksgiving weekend, it is possible that the best of this talented division remains to be seen.

The contender rankings are generated by user and staff ratings. If the list is missing a horse you are watching, you may add that horse, rate it and watch it climb the ladder. Click here for more on HRN’s Power Rankings and voting.
