Thursday's 7th race from Del Mar (11-02-17) is the $75,000 Lure Stakes for 3-year-olds and up traveling one mile on the turf course.

#10 A RED TIE DAY (8-1) won this last year and snapped a 6-race losing streak in a $32,000 claimer at SA Oct 8 (135 Today's Racing Digest Final Rating). He is 4-for-5 in flat mile turf races.

After he won a local optional claiming turf route last fall, I said #9 He Will (5-2) would become a stakes winner. He came very close twice in the Cal Dreamin July 29 (147 Final Rating) and the E B Johnston Sept 9 and might get that elusive first stakes win today.

#7 Cistron (9-2) can be dangerous if they allow him to amble along up front. There is not much pace in the paper race and he earned a 137 Final Rating on Oct 7.

#1 Ample Sufficiency (12-1) exits a SA optional claiming win (141 Final Rating) under Gary Stevens and he graduated over the local turf course July 22.

THE PLAYS:

#10 to win

Quinella 10/1-7-9

Trifecta 9-10/ALL/1-7
