Thursday’s 9th race from Kentucky Downs is the $250,000 Old Friends Stakes for 3-year-olds and up traveling a mile and seventy yards on the turf course (Post Time - 5:48 p.m. ET).

#2 CULLUM ROAD (6-1) missed by a head in the Dueling Grounds Derby at Kentucky Downs last September. He started 2019 with an allowance turf route win at Keeneland, and he faced graded foes in his last three starts (1 show finish). Jose Ortiz hops aboard and he seems well-spotted in this restricted stakes. His last two wins were after a layoff.

#3 Mr. Misunderstood (2-1) is the new morning line favorite after the defection of #5 Catapult. He is 11-for-18 overall on turf and 4-for-4 at this distance. He checked in 3rd as the chalk in his lone local try in the Tourist Mile last year.

#4 Multiplier (4-1) missed by a nose in an optional claiming turf route at Saratoga Aug. 16. He faced stakes foes in 8 of his last 10 starts, and I like the placement today, but he has not won in quite some time.

#1 Hot Springs (12-1) has been on a steady stakes diet since July 2018. His recent form is not great but he reconnects with winning rider Ricardo Santana Jr. and will try to get involved late.
