Sunday's Best Bet: King Abner leads the way in Steve Sexton Mile

April 27, 2019 11:06pm

Sunday's seventh race from Lone Star Park is the Grade 3 Steve Sexton Mile for 3-year-olds and up traveling one mile on the main track (Post Time - 5:40 p.m. ET).

#4 KING ABNER (3-1) is a solid California-bred with decent early foot, and he likes this one mile distance. Tyler Baze rides him well and he should be forwardly placed for D’Amato, who also saddles #6 Air Strike (10-1). The latter added blinkers and finished a wide 4th from an outer post in his first start of the year March 30. He ran some decent route races last year and can move forward under Joe Talamo.

#1 Title Ready (5-2) owns competitive numbers and enters in decent form but is only 3-for-16 (7 minor awards) and is hardly a standout. His only win in his last ten starts was a one-turn mile affair in the slop vs. optional claimers at Aqueduct late last year.

#7 Forevamo (20-1) is not in the best form but this shorter distance helps (trifecta finishes in all five starts at one mile), and he can spice up the exotics.
