Shamrock Rose ran down the leaders in Saturday's Grade 2, $250,000 Lexus Raven Run Stakes at Keeneland at 18-1, picking up her third straight win and first graded stakes score.

The 3-year-old Pennsylvania-bred filly, trained by Mark Casse, entered off wins in the Malvern Rose Stakes at Presque Isle Downs and the La Laorgnette Stakes at Woodbine.

Assistant trainer David Carroll, who's in charge of the Keeneland string, was on hand for the victory.

“Her last two races have been awesome," he said. "She was full of confidence. She came to us in great shape. It was a great call by Mark and the Conrads – they are terrific owners, and we’re so happy for them – to try this spot. It might have seemed ambitious, but when the filly’s doing awesome ... She just trained unbelievably well."

Blamed tried to take the field all the way and was able to hold off the rest of the field, but Shamrock Rose had plenty of room after turning for home and completed the seven furlongs in 1:22.98.

Take Charge Paula, who broke fast before dropping back, made a late run for third despite the early trouble.

Even though it was a full field, winning jockey Tyler Gaffalione said he was able to stay out of the traffic.

"The plan was to see where she breaks and put her in a good spot," Gaffalione said. "All the credit goes to Mark and his team; they did a great job. They gave me all the confidence in her. They said she’d been doing great. She really showed up today. When I asked her for run, she really kicked on."

Although it was the first graded win for Shamrock Rose, the filly had tried her hand in it before. She finished second to stablemate Wonder Gadot in the Mazarine Stakes (G3) when both fillies were 2.

"I told Tyler to just enjoy the ride," Carroll said. "She’s sitting on a big race. Whether that was good enough to win, we’d have to wait and see. It was."
