Saturday’s 5th race from Santa Anita Park (4-21-18) is the Grade 2, $200,000 Kona Gold Stakes for 3-year-olds and up dashing six and one-half furlongs on the main track.
#3 TEN BLESSINGS (3-1) earned a stakes shot after a sharp optional claiming score at seven panels March 30. He was 3rd as the chalk in the 2016 Malibu and might be ready to capture his first stakes for Bob Baffert.
#5 Ransom the Moon (9-5) is 2-for-2 at this distance and is the defending champ. This is his first start in 5+ months.
#2 Bobby Abu Dhabi (2-1) ran a big race off the bench in the Grade 1 Triple Bend, but he always fires a fresh shot, and I am not sure that he can run two alike. He finished 1-2 in all four local tries and is 2-for-2 at this distance.
