Bob Baffert’s winners of Sunday’s Bob Hope (G3) and Saturday's Desi Arnaz at Santa Anita have their next destinations set, according to the Daily Racing Form.
Eda, winner of the Arnaz, will try Grade 1 company in the Starlet on Dec. 4 at Los Alamitos.
A 2-year-old Munnings filly, Eda won the race by 4 1/2 lengths. The Arnaz was her fourth attempt in a stakes, having finished second in the Sorrento (G2) and fifth in the Del Mar Debutante (G1) before winning the Anoakia at Santa Anita on Oct. 24.
Owned by the Baoma Corporation, Eda was bought for $550,000 at the Ocala Breeders’ 2-year-olds in training sale in March.
Messier, who won the Hope, will be pointed toward the Los Alamitos Futurity (G2) on Dec. 11.
The Bob Hope was the first try at a stakes race for Messier, a 2-year-old Empire Maker colt. With Flavien Prat aboard, he settled in off the pace before pulling ahead at the eighth pole and drawing away for a 3 1/2- length victory over a slim field of three others at Del Mar.
The Ontario-bred colt was a $470,000 purchase at the 2020 Fasig-Tipton selected yearlings showcase. Despite being ineligible for the race as things currently stand, he sits as the 20-1 second choice in Las Vegas futures for the 2022 Kentucky Derby.
