Champion sprinter Elite Power will be pointed to the Grade 2 True North on June 10 rather than the Metropolitan Handicap (G1) the same day.

Daily Racing Form reported that trainer Bill Mott said he didn't believe the 5-year-old, who has won six straight, is ready for the Met Mile.

His last race was a victory in the Riyadh Dirt Sprint (G3), followed by quarantine time and rest time.

Mott also trains Cody's Wish, who's on a five-race win streak and is pointed to the Met Mile. But the trainer told DRF the possibility of his stars facing each other was not a factor in his decision to send Elite Power to the True North.

He said Elite Power could be aimed at the Vanderbilt (G1) at Saratoga and then perhaps the Forego (G1), where meeting Cody's Wish would be a possibility.

Elite Power returned to the track with three works at Churchill Downs before moving to Saratoga this month. His last work was a bullet four furlongs in 48.97 seconds Monday.
