Mrs. Yoshio Fujita’s Ravi’s Song, heroine of last spring’s $100,000 New Orleans Ladies at Fair Grounds but a disappointing ninth as the odds-on choice of the fans in last weekend’s $75,000 Blushing K. D. Handicap on Santa Super Saturday, came out of her race with no apparent problems but is extremely unlikely for another appearance over the local Stall-Wilson turf course this season.

“That race was inexplicable,” said Ravi’s Song’s trainer Carl Bowman Wednesday morning. “The mare came out of the race just fine and showed no ill effects from the race, but she never even picked up the bit.

“The only thing I can think of is that she couldn’t handle the soft (yielding) ground (Saturday),” said Bowman. “That course is considerably different then the summer turf courses she is used to. We’ll try her again down here in a race in February or March, depending on how she’s doing, but I don’t think it will be over this turf here, even if we were able to catch a fast grass course. I’m pretty sure her next race down here will be back on the main track.”
