Prince of Jericho, winner of the Spectacular Bid stakes on Jan. 21 at Laurel Park, returned to the track on Friday to prepare for his next start.

The son of Munnings, who scored his first stakes victory in the seven-furlong Spectacular Bid, worked four furlongs in 51.0 seconds at Laurel. It was the 18th fastest of 27 works at the distance.

The move was his first work since the Spectacular Bid, in which he bested previous conqueror Coffeewithchris by four lengths, for trainer Brittany Russell.

Maryland's series of stakes for 3-year-olds continues with the $100,000 Miracle Wood going one mile on Feb. 18, though Russell was noncommittal after the race as to whether Prince of Jericho would run back in that spot.

Prince of Jericho was the only colt listed at odds of 200-1 or shorter in Derby futures pools offered by Las Vegas casinos to record a timed workout on Friday. But nine other horses whose connections may harbor Derby dreams were on the track Wednesday and Thursday to build fitness for their 3-year-old campaigns.
