Two of trainer Michael McCarthy's stable stars – Preakness winner Rombauer and Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint heroine CeCe – worked Thursday at Santa Anita.

Rombauer, who has been sidelined since running third in the Belmont Stakes, breezed three furlongs in 37.4 second. CeCe took a half-mile spin in an easy 50.2 seconds.

"Easy works for both. Maintenance," McCarthy told Horse Racing Nation in a text message.

Earlier this month, the trainer told HRN Rombauer would likely target the Dubai World Cup (G1) as a main early season objective. The immediate plans for CeCe, who owner-breeder Bo Hirsch said will return for a 6-year-old campaign, were still to be determined.
