With a carryover of $417,949, Prairie Meadows Racetrack & Casino will offer a mandatory payout of the Jackpot Pick 5 on Monday after receiving the green light from the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission.

The first post on the nine-race card is at 5 p.m. EDT. The Pick-5 sequence begins with race 6 at 7:07 p.m. EDT.

“The Jackpot Pick 5 has been growing significantly over the last two weeks,” said Garrick Mallory, assistant director of pari-mutuels at Prairie Meadows. “We believe this is a perfect opportunity to get money back in the hands of our loyal bettors and generate some excitement for a large pool.”

The races in the Pick-5 include (with favorites and morning-line odds):

* Race 6, $7,500 claiming, 3-year-olds and up, six furlongs, seven entrants (5-year-old gelding Alan's Argument, 2-1).

* Race 7, $6,250 starter allowance, 3-year-olds and up, five furlongs, seven entrants (5-year-old gelding Coco Tiger, 8-5).

* Race 8, $31,500 allowance, 3-year-olds and up, six furlongs, seven entrants (5-year-old gelding Red White and Loud, 7-2).

* Race 9, $41,278 allowance, Iowa-bred 3-year-olds and up, six furlongs, seven entrants (3-year-old gelding Lucky D, 8-5).

* Race 10, nine entrants, Iowa-bred 2-year-old fillies, 5 1/2 furlongs, nine entrants (Nautical Miss, 5-2). 

Prairie Meadows offered a mandatory Jackpot Pick 5 payout Monday, July 5. A $415,393 jackpot stimulated $2,047,266 in new money wagered into the Pick 5 sequence. Each winning ticket returned $25,072.90.
