Memorable Week for Gulfstream, Fasig-Tipton

Gulfstream Park returned to live racing Thursday after playing host for the first time earlier in the week to Fasig-Tipton’s world-renowned Selected 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale.

The partnering of two of racing’s most respected and identifiable brands combined for an outstanding week with a highly attended under tack show Monday and a sale Wednesday under the lights that brought together racing’s most unique facility and the world’s next generation of stars.

Eighty-nine 2-year-olds were sold Wednesday for more than $20 million. Owners, breeders, trainers, jockeys and the public watched as the 2-year-olds were paraded in Gulfstream’s spectacular walking ring.

“We’re extremely pleased with the participation of horsemen throughout the world as well as our fans who were eager to take in this world-class event,” said The Stronach Group’s COO Tim Ritvo. “We’re honored to partner with Fasig-Tipton on such an acclaimed event as well as the Fasig-Tipton Swale (G2), which will be held this Saturday.

“Gulfstream Park and The Stronach Group will continue working with our partners to promote and grow Thoroughbred racing. With events like the Fasig-Tipton Florida Sale, Eclipse Awards, concerts and handicapping contests, we will continue to make Gulfstream one of sport’s most unique destinations.”
