Maximum Security, Vekoma highlight Monday's graded stakes works

Four time Grade 1 winner Maximum Security worked a swift four furlongs in :47.60 at Del Mar Monday morning for trainer Bob Baffert in his first work since his victory in the Grade 1 Pacific Classic. Another leading Breeders' Cup contender, Vekoma, returned to the track for his first workout since his impressive Met Mile (G1) victory on July 4. The George Weaver trainee went an easy three furlongs in :37.10 at Saratoga.

Lady Apple (Curlin) a four-time Grade 3 winner worked 4 furlongs in 49.8 at Churchill Downs on Monday morning. It was the 14th fastest of 25 works at the distance. Her previous work was 7 days ago going 5 furlongs at Churchill Downs. In her last start she placed ninth in the Groupie Doll going 1 mile on the main track at Ellis Park on Aug. 9 for trainer Steve Asmussen.

Zulu Alpha (Street Cry) a Grade 1 winner (2020 Gulfstream Park Turf ) worked 4 furlongs in 52.8 at Churchill Training on Monday morning. It was the 31st fastest of 32 works at the distance. His previous work was 7 days ago going 4 furlongs at Churchill Training. In his last start he won the Elkhorn (G2) going 1 1/2 miles on the turf at Keeneland on July 12 for trainer Mike Maker.

Red King (English Channel) a Grade 2 winner (2020 Del Mar H. Presented by The Japan Racing Association) worked 3 furlongs in 37.2 at Del Mar on Monday morning. It was the second fastest of 11 works at the distance. This is his first work since his last race. In his last start he won the Del Mar H. Presented by The Japan Racing Association (G2) going 1 3/8 miles on the turf at Del Mar on Aug. 22 for trainer Philip D'Amato.

Maxim Rate (Exchange Rate) a Grade 3 winner (2019 Senorita) worked 5 furlongs in 1:01.0 at Del Mar on Monday morning. It was the 6th fastest of 32 works at the distance. Her previous work was 9 days ago going 4 furlongs at Del Mar. In her last start she placed 1st in the CTT and TOC going 1 3/8 miles on the turf at Del Mar on August 16 for trainer Simon Callaghan.

Improbable (City Zip) a three time Grade 1 winner (2020 Whitney 2020 Gold Cup at Santa Anita 2018 Los Alamitos Futurity) worked 6 furlongs in 1:11.6 at Del Mar on Monday morning.
