Heading into the final turn, European invader Magic Attitude was running dead last in the $250,000 Belmont Oaks with Antoinette on the lead of the first Grade 1 of the Belmont fall meet.

Rounding the second turn, Magic Attitude and Javier Castellano made their move, circling the field and running down Antionette to win going away by 2 1/4 lengths.

“I liked the way she sat,” Castellano said. “Beautiful, behind the speed. Nice way, nice rhythm and when I asked her for more at the quarter-pole, she took off really well.”

By Galileo out of Margot Did, by Exceed and Excel, Magic Attitude earned her first win since the Prix Vanteaux (G3) at Longchamp on May 14. Most recently, she was fifth in the Prix De Diane (G1) at Chantilly on July 5.

"The pace was a little bit of a concern,” trainer Arnaud Delacour said. “With a five-horse field, you never know what's going to happen, but it didn't change her running style as that's how she likes to race. Javier [Castellano] timed it perfectly and she came with a good kick.”

Splits for the race were :24.89, :49.99, 1:14.17 and 1:37.91. The winning time was 2:01.14.

Magic Attitude is owned by Lael Stables. She returned $4.30 for the win.
