Trainer Ken McPeek reported Monday morning that Turf Stable LLC’s Lawn Ranger exited his victory in Sunday’s $250,000 Dixiana Bourbon (G3) in good order.

The victory earned Lawn Ranger a spot in the $1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (G1) to be run Oct. 31 at Santa Anita.

“I am not sure,” McPeek said of shipping plans for Lawn Ranger, who was ridden by Chris Landeros. “We want to let the dust settle from this one first.”

McPeek also used a Bourbon victory as a springboard to the Breeders’ Cup with Rogue Romance in 2010. However, instead of running on grass, Rogue Romance wound up in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile on dirt at Churchill Downs.

“He ran third to Uncle Mo,” McPeek said. “I felt he had more of a dirt foot on him. This horse (Lawn Ranger) will definitely stay on the grass.”

The victory gave McPeek a third win in the race that was formerly named the Hopemont. Pineaff won the Hopemont in 1998 but did not go to the Breeders’ Cup for a simple reason.

“There was no Juvenile Turf then,” McPeek said.
