Knicks Go, Maxfield lead loaded Saturday work tab

Knicks Go, a leading contender for the Breeders' Cup Classic later this year, worked four furlongs for trainer Brad Cox at Churchill Downs on Saturday, completing the move in 48.4 seconds.

The 5-year-old is training for a planned appearance in the Oct. 2 Lukas Classic (G3), which would be his final prep for the $6 million Breeders' Cup Classic at Del Mar on Nov. 6.

Also notable on Saturday's work tab was Maxfield, another leading contender for the Breeders' Cup Classic. The 4-year-old is coming off a second-place finish behind Knicks Go in the Whitney (G1) at Saratoga.

Trained by Brendan Walsh, Maxfield drilled five furlongs in 59.8 seconds at Saratoga. He is scheduled to have his final Breeders' Cup prep in the $500,000 Woodward Stakes (G1) at Belmont Park on Oct. 2.
