Forte, who was installed as the 4-1 morning-line favorite for the fifth pool of the Kentucky Derby Future Wager, has seen his odds shorten to 3-1 as of Saturday at noon EST.

The Kentucky Derby Future Wager allows the public to predict the Derby winner weeks in advance. Bettors can lock in a price they hope will be more favorable than what is available May 6 at Churchill Downs.

Forte, the champion juvenile of 2022, was made favorite for this pool off an authoritative start to his 3-year-old season last Saturday. The Violence colt seized command in upper stretch of the Fountain of Youth (G2) and was ridden out to a 4 1/2-length win at Gulfstream Park.

Prior to his Fountain of Youth win, Forte took the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile, Breeders’ Futurity (G1) and Hopeful Stakes (G1). Trained by Todd Pletcher, he has amassed $1.83 million in earnings thus far over six starts.

Through the first four pools of the Kentucky Derby Future Wager, Forte was tabbed as the individual favorite in pool two (10-1), pool three (7-1) and pool four (8-1). In the first pool, Forte closed as the second individual choice at 16-1 behind Extra Anejo (12-1).

The shortest individual betting interests outside of Forte are Arabian Knight (6-1), Tapit Trice (11-1), Instant Coffee (15-1) and Practical Move (17-1). The catch-all All Other Three Year Olds entry is listed at 15-1, up from 5-1 on the morning line.

This is the first Future Wager pool to feature Arabian Knight, the 5 1/2-length Southwest Stakes (G3) winner. His entry into the pool followed his transfer to trainer Tim Yakteen from Bob Baffert, who is suspended from competing in this year’s Kentucky Derby.

Tapit Trice will make his first start on the Kentucky Derby trail Saturday afternoon. He is the 8-5 morning-line favorite for the $400,000 Tampa Bay Derby (G3).

Betting for this pool opened Friday and continues through Sunday at 6:00 p.m. EDT. That is half an hour before the Kentucky Oaks Future Wager, which closes at 6:30 p.m. EDT. The sixth and final future wager pool for the Kentucky Derby will be available for bettors March 30 through April 1.

These were the Kentucky Derby Future Wager pool five odds as of noon EST, compared to morning-line odds on each horse.
