Kingsbarns, who led 11 rivals from gate to wire in the Louisiana Derby (G2), shortened from 35-1 to a 16-1 best price among the three Las Vegas shops booking fixed-odds bets for the May 6 classic at Churchill Downs.
Two Phil’s, the winner of the Jeff Ruby Steaks (G3) at Turfway Park, had his best price cut from 80-1 to 25-1.
Oddsmakers differed on how to handle UAE Derby (G2) victor Derma Sotogake. The colt who led Japan’s superfecta sweep at Meydan opened Sunday at 100-1 at Caesars Sportsbook before being bet down to 40-1. He started at 10-1 at the Westgate SuperBook, and he shortened from 200-1 to 25-1 at Circa Sports.
Wild On Ice, the 35-1 upset winner Sunday in the Sunland Park Derby (G3), opened at 60-1 at the Westgate but was not listed at the other two books.
Forte, who will be heavily favored Saturday to win the Florida Derby (G1), drifted from 3-1 to 7-2 at the Westgate. He held firm at 3-1 at Caesars and Circa.
Las Vegas will share the futures stage with the nationwide pari-mutuels being run one last time this season. Pool 6 of Churchill Downs’ Kentucky Derby Future Wager, with 39 individual options and an all-others mutuel field, opens Friday and closes Sunday.
