Kentucky Derby Top 50: Vino Rosso rates high on potential

Vino Rosso suffered his first defeat in Saturday's Grade 3 Sam F. Davis Stakes, but that did little to stop his charge up Horse Racing Nation's Kentucky Derby Top 50 rankings.

Third, but by just 1 1/4 lengths after a strong late drive, the Todd Pletcher trainee rose to No. 8 in a listing assembled by HRN readers' votes on Derby hopefuls.

Also from the Sam F. Davis, runner-up Catholic Boy stuck at No. 4, while winner Flameaway advanced to 11th in the poll.

The first three are all big names: champion 2-year-old Good Magic, multiple Grade 1 winner Bolt d'Oro and Solomini, runner-up in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile.

One of the biggest movers overall was Tenfold, who debuted going two turns and dominated last Friday at Oaklawn Park. The Curlin colt is owned by Winchell Thoroughbreds and trained by Steve Asmussen.

Likewise, maiden winners He Takes Charge (42nd) and Telekinesis (47th) also cracked the Kentucky Derby Top 50.
