Keeneland and Santa Anita will offer a Pick 6 on Saturday with three qualifiers from each track.
Jim Goodman, director of wagering development for Keeneland, told Horse Racing Nation on Monday that the races from the Kentucky track will be the Grade 2 Thoroughbred Club of America at six furlongs for fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up; the Turf Mile (G1) for 3-year-olds and up; and the Breeders’ Futurity (G1) at 1 1/16 miles for 2-year-olds.
The races from Santa Anita will be the American Pharoah (G1) at 1 1/16 miles for 2-year-olds; the Chandelier (G2) at 1 1/16 miles for 2-year-old fillies; and the Rodeo Drive at 1 1/4 miles on turf for fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up.
Goodman said the sequence probably will start with the Thoroughbred Club of America but that he wouldn’t know for sure until the races are drawn Monday afternoon.
The Breeders’ Cup Pick 6 will have a $1 minimum, mandatory payout and 15 percent takeout, he said.
“It’s a separate wagering event because if we do something like this with two tracks we obviously can’t include it in our wagering menu,” Goodman said. “So people on their ADWs or at the track will have to look for either the Breeders’ Cup Pick 6 or the Keeneland-Santa Anita Pick 6.”
