The $50,000 Silver Goblin Stakes, for older Oklahoma-breds on Friday at Remington Park, will feature many of the top state-breds from recent years. They will all square off in the 6-1/2 furlong sprint.

Johnny Whip, at 15-1 odds in the morning line, will attempt his third consecutive win in the Silver Goblin. Owned by George Straw of Whiteboro, Texas and trained by Jody Pruitt, Johnny Whip has yet to post a top-three finish in a pair of Oklahoma-bred stakes races this fall at Remington Park. That pattern is similar to his resume heading into the Silver Goblin the past two years, before winning the event.

Okie Ride, the last to win the Silver Goblin Stakes other than Johnny Whip, will try to parlay his most recent win in the $130,000 Oklahoma Classics Sprint into one more stakes score. Okie Ride won the Silver Goblin Stakes in 2012 and 2013. He has won the Classics Sprint four times in his career.

Owned by the Richter Family Trust of Perkins, Okla. and trained by Kenny Nolen, Okie Ride is at 5-2 and is second in the morning-line odds.

Imahit will turn back to a sprint distance after a failed speedy run in the $175,000 Oklahoma Classics Cup last month. Owned and trained by C.R. Trout of Edmond, Okla., Imahit flew on the front of the Classics Cup, opening a nearly 10-length lead before completely running out of energy in the final furlong to finish sixth. The morning-line favorite at 2-1 odds, jockey Richard Eramia will get the call on Imahit who seeks his first Silver Goblin score.

The Silver Goblin Stakes is named in honor of the gray Oklahoma-bred millionaire who dominated races at Remington Park and outside Oklahoma in the 1990s. The eight-horse field for the Silver Goblin Stakes, by post-position and program number, with trainer, jockey and morning-line odds:
1.    Imahit: C.R. Trout, Richard Eramia, 2-1
2.    Yonaguska Boy: Joe Offolter, Iram Diego, 30-1
3.    Johnny Whip: Jody Pruitt, Jareth Loveberry, 15-1
4.    Perfect To Please: Veronica Griggs, Bryan McNeil, 12-1
5.    Okie Ride: Kenny Nolen, Luis Quinonez, 5-2
6.    Right Squall: Gerald Brooks, Alex Birzer, 20-1
7.    Z Rockstar: Donnie Von Hemel, David Cabrera, 6-1
8.    Ibaka: Bret Calhoun, Ramon Vazquez, 3-1

The state-bred star power in the Silver Goblin Stakes is top-notch with Johnny Whip and Okie Ride winning this race the last four years; Imahit, a two-time winner of the Oklahoma Classics Cup; and Ibaka, winner of the 2015 OKC Turf Classic. The Silver Goblin Stakes is the sixth race on Friday with an approximate post time of 9:22pm.

A pair of stakes events for 2-year-old Oklahoma-breds are also included on the Friday program at Remington Park. The $75,000 Slide Show Stakes at one-mile for 2-year-old fillies is the fourth race, at 8:28pm. The Slide Show is named after one of the all-time great Oklahoma-bred fillies who lost only one race at Remington Park.

Oklahoma-bred 2-year-old colts and geldings will go one mile in the $75,000 Don McNeill Stakes in race eight at 10:18pm. The McNeill Stakes is named after the late owner and breeder who had great success with Oklahoma-breds, notably Clever Trevor and Mr. Ross.

Remington Park racing on Friday and Saturday night, begins at 7pm. All times are Central.
