Del Mar officials said Friday morning they’re in need of the basics — shavings, lead ropes, halters and other items — after more than 250 horses were relocated there following wildfires at the San Luis Rey Downs training center.

As an outpouring of support continued on social media, many are asking how they can help.

Those with equipment can call Del Mar’s number at (858) 755-1161. The track is also accepting donations at its stable gate.

By Friday morning, Santa Anita Park and The Stronach Group launched a GoFundMe, saying, "Feed, bedding, blankets and many other supplies are still needed for the Equine evacuees and donations towards medical bills, housing, and other essential amenities are necessary to help the hurting California horse racing community."

An Amazon wish list -- with purchased items set to ship to California horsemen -- is online.

Sophie Shore, founder of the Nexus Racing Club, also tarted a GoFundMe to help offset costs. “If this was set up by @Shore_Sophie I am quite certain it is legitimate,” tweeted Kentucky Derby-winning trainer Graham Motion. It has an original goal of $10,000 but had surpassed $17,000 as of Friday morning.

The California Thoroughbred Horsemen's Association has an online portal for donations to assist those impacted by the fire.

The National Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association -- which touts itself as horsemen helping horsemen -- says it will work alongside other agencies to help those in need.

Thoroughbred Charities of America accepts donations online or by phone at (859) 276-4989.
