The New York Racing Association will on Saturday host a Cross Country Pick 4 featuring top stakes races from Aqueduct Racetrack and Santa Anita Park.

The Pick 4 sequence will start with the Grade 3, $200,000 Tom Fool, carded as Race 9 at Aqueduct with a scheduled post time of 5:09 p.m. ET. It will be followed by Race 5 at Santa Anita, the Grade 1, Frank E. Kilroe Mile, and Race 10 at Aqueduct the Grade 3, Gotham. The final leg of the Cross Country Pick 4 will be the Grade 2 San Felipe from Santa Anita.

The Cross Country Pick 4 will have a minimum bet of 50 cents. NYRA Bets customers who hit the Pick 4 will receive a 10% winner's bonus on Saturday, capped at $100.

Once again, I will use one of my favorite cost-effective Pick 4 wagering strategies, the spread ticket formula. It would cost $144 to lump all of my contenders on one ticket, but the spread ticket formula knocks the price down to an affordable $30.

Cross Country Pick 4 Contenders

AQU 9 (G3 Tom Fool, 6f)

Primary - #5 SKYLAR’S SCRAMJET, #6 Do Share
Secondary - #3 Great Stuff, #9 Favorite Tale, #10 Spartiatis, #2 Classy Class, #4 Threefiveindia, #7 Life in Shambles

Comments: Skylar’s Scramjet is 3-for-3 at this distance, and the sharp gelding owns early/pressing versatility. Do Share likes this course/distance, and seeks a local hat trick.

SA 5 (G1 Kilroe Mile, 8T)

Primary - #5 WORLD APPROVAL
Secondary  #8 Channel Maker, #1 Free Rose

Comments: World Approval is 3-for-3 at one mile, and all three of those wins were in Grade 1 races. The class of the field projects a nice stalking trip under Flavien Prat.

AQU 10  (G3 Gotham, 8f)

Primary - #9 ENTICED, #6 Free Drop Billy
Secondary - #5 Firenze Fire, #4 Whereshetoldmetogo

Comments: Enticed reconnects with winning rider Junior Alvarado, and an outside stalking trip is expected. The graded winner can go much better in his second start of the year. Free Drop Billy is a classy stalker for Dale Romans, and this one-turn mile looks perfect.

SA 6 (G2 San Felipe, 8.5f)

Primary - #1 BOLT D’ORO, #4 McKinzie
Secondary - #3 Ayacara

Comments: Bolt d’Oro makes his much anticipated return with Javier Castellano in the saddle. Three of his last four works were bullets, and the 2-time grade one winner only lost once in four outings last year, and that was a very wide third from an outer post in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile. McKinzie removed blinkers and ran his best race yet in the Grade 3 Sham. He is training well for this and should continue to progress for Smith/Baffert.
