Gamine, As Time Goes By lead Sunday work tab

Gamine, the 2020 Champion Female Sprinter, took another step closer to making her 2021 bow Sunday morning with a four-furlong drill at Santa Anita Park for Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert.

The 4-year-old Into Mischief filly completed the move handily in 48.40 seconds, ranking 17th of 80 at the distance. It was the fourth straight half-mile work since February 15 for Gamine, whose last start came with a victory in the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint last November at Keeneland.

Baffert also sent out As Time Goes By, winner of her last two races by a combined 13 lengths, as she prepares for her stakes debut in the Beholder Mile (G1) Saturday at Santa Anita. A 4-year-old daughter of American Pharoah, As Time Goes By worked a half-mile in 47.80, the third-fastest of 80 at the distance.
