Saturday's Grade 1 Arkansas Derby at Oaklawn is the final Kentucky Derby prep that offers 100-40-20-10 points to the top four finishers. The race features a field of six, led by Rebel Stakes (G2) winner Concert Tour.
Running for Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert, Concert Tour is undefeated in three starts, including another Grade 2 win in the San Vicente in February at Santa Anita.
He currently has 50 Derby points, good for 11th on the leaderboard.
Baffert will have another entry in the race with Hozier, who finished second to Concert Tour in the Rebel. The Pioneerof the Nile colt will be looking for his first stakes victory.
The colt will need a top three finish to qualify for the Derby field, currently in 24th place in the standings with 20 points.
Facing off with the Baffert duo will be Caddo River, trained by Brad Cox. The Shortleaf Stable homebred ran a disappointing fifth in the Rebel, his most recent race.
Previously, the Hard Spun colt had been looking stellar, breaking his maiden on third asking in November at Churchill Downs before moving to Oaklawn and winning the Smarty Jones Stakes.
Caddo River will also be looking for a solid finish to make the Run for the Roses. He has 10 points currently and is 30th in the standings.
The race is scheduled to go off at 7:41 p.m. EDT on Saturday.
