The Saratoga summer meeting opens July 16 with six stakes on the schedule for opening week.
Things will kick off on opening day with the $100,000 Schuylerville (G3) for 2-year-olds and the $100,000 Peter Pan (G3), an points-paying prep towards this year's Kentucky Derby and possible springboard to the Grade 1 Travers later in the meet.
Here is an early look at the list of stakes probables for next week at Saratoga courtesy of the NYRA Racing Office.
Thursday, July 16
Schuylerville Stakes (G3)
This is the second juvenile graded stakes of the season following the June 27 Bashford Manor (G3) won by Cazadero. Most are exiting maiden wins including Thoughtfully, who won on debut at Churchill Downs on June 11.
Peter Pan Stakes (G3)
NYRA listed 10 sophomores as possible/probable for this Kentucky Derby prep, which offer a points scale of 50-20-10-5 to the top four finishers. Among the notable contenders are Risen Star (G2) winner Modernist, who most recently was seventh in the Belmont Stakes; and Celtic Striker, who exits a win in the June 25 Easy Goer at Belmont Park.
Friday, July 17
Shine Again Stakes
Grade 3 winner Blamed would receive class relief after running fourth in the Grade 1 Ogden Phipps on June 13. Indian Pride looms a major threat for trainer Chad Brown after a tallying a sharp allowance win at Belmont, which came off an eighth month layoff.
Saturday, July 18
Coaching Club American Oaks (G1)
This Grade 1 looks to be coming up very light. Antoinette has checked in third in three straight stakes, including the Fair Grounds Oaks (G2) and most recently the June 20 Wonder Again (G3) at Belmont.
Tempers Rising was a promising second in the Fair Grounds Oaks behind Bonny South, but most recently was a disappointing seventh in a Churchill Downs allowance.
National Museum of Racing Hall of Fame (G2)
Decorated Invader made it consecutive stakes wins when taking the June 20 Penine Ridge (G2) at Belmont Park. He previously won the Cutler Bay at last year bagged the Grade 1 Summer Stakes at Woodbine.
Field Pass, winner of the Jeff Ruby Stakes (G3) at Turfway Park earlier this year, ran third in the War Chant at Churchill Downs before winning the June 20 Audubon in his most recent start.
Lake Placid Stakes
Sweet Melania, who was third in last year's Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf, made a winning sophomore bow in the Wonder Again.
Cat's Pajamas is 2-for-2 since switching to the turf. She earned her diploma May 17 at Churchill Downs and was a prompt winner in a Belmont allowance.
